Mount Vernon Youth Attains Highest Goals

Mount Vernon Community That Cares (MVCTC), a project of the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, congratulates Edwina Belizaire, a senior electrical engineering student at North Carolina A&T State University. She is a Lewis and Elizabeth Dowdy Scholar, which allows her to attend school on a full ride and is a part of the Honors College. She has accomplished many things such as being on Chancellor’s List and was a Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Scholar for 2022, which allowed her to attend a conference, meet and interview with several large employers. During her high school years at Denzel Washington High School, Edwina was an active member of MVCTC.

She received her first internship after her freshman year with Collins Aerospace as an electrical engineering intern. Last summer, she was a hardware development engineering intern at Amazon Lab126 in Sunnyvale, California. This summer, she received several internship offers from companies such as Apple and Microsoft, but has decided to return to Amazon.

During the spring semester of 2023, Edwina studied abroad in Cyprus at University of Nicosia and was able to pursue her passion of traveling to different countries while there. In her free time, she enjoys her other passions such as writing and giving back to her community.

Edith Washington Charles, MVCTC Co-Chair, along with the Board and members wish her continued success as she pursues her career goals. Ms. Charles said, “We are just so proud to have contributed to Edwina’s success.”
